Do SmartForm submissions send Patient Identifiable Data directly to an email?

Got the notification and rather not have to sign in to the Patient Inbox, again?

The short answer is that you will always have to sign in to get the response from a SmartForm. The good news is once you're signed in, you can stay signed in.

Why?

It all comes down to security. Protecting Patient Identifiable Data (PID) is of utmost importance. As Data Processor's, TVD have a responsibility for how this information is transmitted.

NHS Digital have high standards which have to adapt to the ever developing online environment, and we all play our part in this.

Whilst an email from one NHS.net account to another may have high encryption standards, our systems (your website) is distinctly separate. It means anything contained within that email, like all the other billions of bits of information sent by email each day, is available to be misappropriated with the right skills.

Our bespoke solution provides this high level of security without the need of asking practices to install and maintain additional secure connectivity.
