SEO Best Practice

There are a few things you’ll need to adhere to when publishing new content

Keywords

Keywords are the words and phrases that people type into search engines to find what they’re looking for.

When you are writing the contents of a page, ensure that you use keywords that will associate with the subject matter, your practice and if needed your location.

You don't need to go overboard with them, as long as the content makes sense and doesn't sound odd then you should be fine.

It is important though to be aware that over-stuffing of keywords is considered a negative tactic. Search engines look for well-written content that makes sense, and text that is over-filled with keywords certainly doesn’t fall into that category.

Top Tip!

Adding regular new content to a website increases the opportunities you have to include your keywords.

Grammar and spelling

Google uses spelling accuracy as one of its ranking elements and has made it clear for some time that it has a preference for quality content. Be sure to proof read your content and ensure it is grammatically perfect, free from spelling errors and typos and factually correct.

Meta Tags

Meta tags are snippets of text that describe what a website page is about. The most important meta tag is the ‘title tag’ because it has a significant impact on search engine rankings.

The ‘meta description’ is also important, and will often appear in the search results under the title tag. The more enticing and relevant the meta title and description tags, the more likely someone is to click through to your website.

When you create a new page out system will use the page title to automatically completed these fields for you.

Amending them can be actioned when you are editing the page, under 'Meta'
