What is Two Factor Authentication (2FA)
Why do I need token or extra step when logging in to the Control Panel.
You may have already experienced Two Factor Authentication (2FA) when accessing Google, Apple, Facebook or anywhere online that requires you to enter a username or password.
But perhaps you did not know that you have been using it regularly for many years. It may have been as simple as providing your PIN for a card transaction or providing ID with when making an application.
In this instance, the second layer of authentication means that a hacker would have to have gained not only your password, they would need to have access to the system which provides the 2nd layer of authentication. In this case we have opted for a token to be sent to your email address.
Top Tip!
If you make use of the Control Panel on a regular basis you can stay logged in by keeping with window or tab active.
This doesn't replace the need for a secure password.
