How does the PatientPortal work

The PatientPortal has been created to assist with secure communication with patients who have made a SmartForm submission.

An Introduction

The PatientPortal has been created to assist with secure communication with patients who have made a SmartForm submission. It is the third part of three main elements of the work flow we have provided as part of Digital Triage.

SmartForm > PatientInbox > PatientPortal

PatientPortal

The PatientPortal is a secure area that allows patients to securely read and respond to your communications about their submission. Patient Portal

Once the practice replies to a patient via the PatientInbox, an email notification is sent to your patient with a secure link to access the response in the PatientPortal. Until this time they are not aware of or able to use the PatientPortal.

This secure link is unique to the submission and provides an option for them to reply and stores a history of your communication until the submissions is marked as 'Closed' and purged according to the Data Retention period for that SmartForm. The default for this is 120 days.

Top Tip

You don't need to reply to acknowledge the submission, this is taken care of by post submission success message and a follow up email.

Remember the Patient can only use the PatientPortal in response to your first reply about this particular submission.
